Island Water Sports has been providing free lessons on Deerfield Beach every Saturday morning for the past 30 years. It’s our way of promoting a fun and active surf community. All experience and age levels are welcome as long as you can swim. Plus we provide all the equipment, but you’re more than welcome to bring your own. 10th Annual South Florida Surfers For Autism Beach Festival

An event Island Water Sports looks forward to EVERY year is Surfers for Autism. This 10th annual event works to eliminate the stigma of Autism through public awareness and education. Hundreds of volunteers in the community come together to give kids and families the experience of a lifetime. The little surfers get one-on-one lessons, experience stand-up paddleboarding, enjoy kayaking, dance to live music, and have fun through local sponsors who bring in face-painters, activities and more. Even the local fire station gets involved as they let participants finger paint one of their fire trucks. “This is a very special day where children with developmental delays interact with typical peers and wow families with their capabilities.”, says Surfers for Autism.

The City of Pompano Beach Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department invites you to a brand new event of family fun. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics and come enjoy a featured presentation under the stars at the great lawn on the third Friday of every month at the Great Lawn. It’s going to be a beautiful weekend. What better than to enjoy a National Park in honor of Earth Day. Explore Everglades National Park and shark Valley for free in honor of National Park Week on April 22-23. Fees also are waived at more than 400 U.S. national parks. Enjoy the 1.5 million-acre subtropical wilderness on your own or join a ranger-led tours. You can also join a Meteor Shower Bike Ride in Shark Valley on April 22 (reservations are required).
