Damn Am NYC

This weekend, SPoTlife Productions hosted a much anticipated stop of the Damn Am qualifying series in NYC at LES Skate Park where 147 skateboarders competed for a chance at the top 12 spot in Tampa Am contest coming this November.

Having spent an entire week practicing, our team riders Carlos Mendoza, Christian Henry, and Race Peschl definitely put down some heavy lines in hopes to rise above the rest of the skaters in the LES skate park stop. Here’s a video of Carlos Mendoza’s and Christian Henry’s qualifying highlights.

Practice Day and Crazy Trends

Check out the video Recap of the practice day here where you’ll notice the latest skate fashion trends; big pants, cut-off cuffs, and pink camouflage is all the rage right now.

Big Name Ams Were There

Our Team Riders weren’t the only ones hungry for the ranks. Big name Ams like Zion Wright, Yoshi Tanenbaum, and Dashawn Jordan who are not strangers to the Damn Am NYC podium, unleashed their arsenal of tricks without mercy.

4 Hours of Qualifying Rounds

With 147 skaters competing in Damn Am NYC, the entire event took about 4 hours of 49 heats consisting of 3 skaters each jam for 3 minutes! While some skaters tired out within a minute, others were able to land every single trick without falling once. Zach Saraceno was among that group.

Finals and Best Trick Recap

A Best Trick throw down on the dubious double set finally ended the contest. Anyone from competitors to spectators could huck themselves for some cash and bragging rights.  Independent Trucks, Bronson Speed Co, and Santa Cruz Skateboards set a prize purse of $1,500 tricks for cash to give away through out the jam.
